“For every medical and psychological reason why couples do not successfully conceive on their own, there is a Chinese medical counterpart”
Chinese medicine, ( acupuncture and Chinese herbs) assists many couples who have tried for years to conceive. In women* undergoing in-vitro fertilization, acupuncture and Chinese herbs can increase the success rate by 40-60%. There is a precise science behind the ancient practice of acupuncture. It is capable of regulating and increasing the flow of ‘qi,’ or vital energy, that enlivens every organ and, in fact, every single cell within the human body. The increased circulation of qi throughout the body—including the reproductive organs—helps the body to begin to heal itself. For every medical and psychological reason why couples do not successfully conceive on their own, there is a Chinese medical counterpart. For example, absence or irregularity of ovulation, a thin endometrial lining, and poor egg quality can all be caused by deficiencies of kidney yin/yang and/or qi and blood. Excess conditions caused by stagnation of qi, blood, and phlegm can manifest as fibroids, endometriosis, and blocked fallopian tubes. These imbalances can also affect male sperm count, motility and morphology. In instances where Western medicine is unable to identify the reason why a woman is not becoming pregnant, Chinese medicine can often trace an imbalance or deficiency based on common symptoms the patient may be experiencing. And by doing so, easily remedy these imbalances with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
As an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, I am passionate about helping couples to become parents. Nurturing women, helping them maintain their pregnancies and give birth to healthy babies are top priorities for my practice. Let me—and this ancient healing art—be a part of your journey and enhance your fertility naturally!

M Y2019-03-04 14:29:062025-11-18 23:37:16Our Beautiful Baby Girl!
Oh Edie. Edie is like my fairy godmother. I heard about Edie from a friend who was also placed on the waitlist but didn't get a chance to work with... read more her. She told me that Edie was well known in the Hawaii fertility world to help many difficult cases get pregnant. My husband and I were trying to get pregnant over the last 7 years and have gone through one failed round of IVF and numerous rounds of IUI with no success, on top of a natural pregnancy in December 2022 that ended in a miscarriage. I've been diagnosed with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis and have even considered using an egg donor if all else failed with my eggs. I've also tried the Mediterranean diet prior to our IVF and was still not successful. I was 39 years old and figured age was also not on my side. We were planning on doing one last round of IVF in the beginning of 2024 and figured I should at least try acupuncture as a last ditch effort to perhaps help my body prep for IVF.
I called the office and was placed on the waitlist. I believe it took a few months before I was called to be offered a consultation. Edie not only focuses on your main fertility issue but works on your whole body and your gut to help you get healthy and conceive as naturally as possible. After my consultation, I was placed on the candida diet to help lessen the inflammation in my gut. Let me tell you, that diet was one of the hardest things I've ever done. You will religiously shop at Whole Foods & check Costco for Organic protein options. I was also going to see Edie twice a week for acupuncture as well as taking my Chinese herbs that taste like dirt LOL. I made it a routine and my coworkers were even aware of my diet and routine lol. Slowly I lost some bad weight, gained energy, and was overall healthier and it became a lifestyle. I wish I could say I was still as good on my diet now, but I am honestly way more conscious of what I put in my body as opposed to before. To have positive results, you will have to work hard, but it definitely is worth it.
The office staff is really friendly, parking is validated, and they have Saturday appointments which are very helpful if you work weekdays. Edie also works with Dr. Dominguez who is an excellent Fertility doctor. Together they are like the dynamic duo who will holistically help you achieve your fertility goals.
To be honest, I was a little skeptical at first because I'm terrified of needles and thought how could all of this possibly work? Week after week, Edie worked up to the bigger needles for me and instead of feeling tense, I found my acupuncture sessions relaxing. Yes, the sessions and herbs can get pretty pricey, but I always remind myself that the price tag was worth not having to go through IVF again.
I started seeing Edie in June 2023 and got pregnant with an unmedicated IUI in October 2023. Unfortunately that pregnancy resulted in a chemical pregnancy, but it was one step closer to our goal. My prior IUIs always used meds like Letrozole but I never ever got pregnant from them. Then the next month we were surprised when I conceived naturally! We were ecstatic but apprehensive since I've had two miscarriages before. I continued to see Edie twice a week during my pregnancy, kept up with my protein intake especially during the first trimester, and took my herbs. I believe all of that in combination helped me to keep my nausea controlled, no morning sickness, and very minimal swelling. My pregnancy went very well and was unremarkable. Even the postpartum nurses were shocked I wasn't swollen at all after giving birth.
Like many of you reading these reviews, I felt hopeful after years of disappointment and was praying that hopefully someday I'd be on the other side of these reviews making my own successful review for Edie. We are so grateful we found Edie and that she was able to help us achieve getting pregnant naturally to a healthy baby boy. We never thought we would ever have a baby nonetheless conceive naturally. If you are on the fence about seeing Edie--take the leap cause it could change your life. Thank you Edie for helping us conceive our beautiful son. Definitely recommend Edie if you're looking for a fertility acupuncturist!

This review is long overdue. Being referred to Edie by a close friend was an absolute blessing. Without Edie's kindness, guidance, and treatments, I truly believe my dream... read more of motherhood would not have come true. I became pregnant at the age of 42 and delivered a healthy, full-term baby at the age of 43.
I started treatments with Edie after having done 6 or 7 IUI then having my first egg retrieval which yielded no viable embryos for IVF. Edie referred me to Dr. Celia Dominguez, another godsend. Due to work commitments and priorities, I decided to put my treatments and IVF journey on hold for about a year.
I went back to seeing Edie on a regular basis a few months before the COVID pandemic started. We had to work through my irregular cycles, PCOS, polyps, and an endometrioma. I saw Edie twice a week, and I faithfully stuck with her protocols--I took all the supplements and herbs she recommended. I was also treated by Dr Jason Uchida in the same office for Hashimoto's. I followed the anti-candida diet very closely and took all the herb powders as prescribed. I was determined and approached my treatments like it was my second job. I felt safe in their office all through the pandemic, and the level of care from Edie, Dr Uchida, and their office staff was amazing!
My second egg retrieval at 42 years of age yielded 19 high-quality eggs, of which 12 were fertilized and then eventually frozen. After the egg retrieval, we worked over a few months to prep for implantation. The implantation went smoothly, and I continued to see Edie throughout my pregnancy up to my due date. I had no complications during or after my pregnancy whatsoever--I felt well cared for by everyone.
All this is to say that my journey to motherhood would not have been possible without Edie. I cannot recommend and thank her enough. Call for an appointment or get added to her waitlist if there is one, you will not be disappointed! My only regret is that now with a little one to keep me busy, my regular visits to Edie have stopped, but I'm determined to make it back to seeing her again!!

Edie is the absolute best! This review is quite long, so if you're short on time and just want a concise and honest review, skip to the last paragraph. Otherwise,... read more get comfortable!
Edie is hands down the best, and I know this because I have happy and healthy 3-month-old twin girls thanks to her! My OBGYN, who is also my IVF doctor, affectionately calls my girls the "miracle babies."
I'm a 42-year-old woman who has been battling endometriosis, an autoimmune disease, and years of infertility (around 7 years total). Before seeing Edie, I had undergone 2 laparoscopies and a hysteroscopy for my endometriosis. I also took 3 cycles of Clomid, which unfortunately resulted in a miscarriage. I attempted 3 more cycles of Clomid, but those attempts were unsuccessful as well. Additionally, I had 3 unsuccessful IUI attempts and a single failed round of IVF.
My first round of IVF involved retrieving 7 eggs, but only 4 were viable, and only 3 of those made it to embryos. Considering my age, health history, and the lower grading of the embryos, all 3 were transferred. Unfortunately, none of them implanted.
Enter Edie! I started seeing her in June 2023, 2-3 times a week. After overcoming several challenges with hormonal imbalances and cysts, which Edie effectively managed, I underwent my egg retrieval in October 2023. Before the retrieval, my doctor monitored my follicles and provided guidance to Edie on the necessary interventions. For instance, during an ultrasound to assess follicle count and growth, one side had larger follicles compared to the other. I informed Edie about this at my next appointment, and she adjusted the treatment plan. At my following ultrasound, both sides had evened out.
I was fortunate enough to retrieve 8 viable eggs, with 7 of them successfully developing into 3-day embryos. This was more than double the number I had previously achieved, and the quality of the embryos was significantly improved. I continued to see Edie until my embryo transfer in January 2024. Immediately following my transfer, I saw her for a special treatment to help the implantation process.
After my previous IVF cycle failed, I was cautiously optimistic but started experiencing period symptoms about a week later. I was certain it wasn't working, but Edie remained positive and said, "I feel like it worked." I appreciated her optimism, but I was certain my period was coming. Two weeks after my transfer, I received my positive beta results! She was right!
I discovered I was having twins, and due to my age, medical history, and the fact that I was having twins, I was at high risk. As a result, I was recommended to be on modified bed rest for the first trimester. The only places I visited during that time were my doctor's and Edie's appointments.
Not only did Edie help me conceive and maintain my pregnancy, but she also provided support during my severe morning sickness, which persisted throughout my pregnancy. She also helped alleviate symptoms of a flare-up with my UC and treated all my pregnancy symptoms. Additionally, she offered support after losing my little brother to cancer when I was six months pregnant. Edie helped manage my anxiety, heartbreak, and sleep during that extremely difficult time!
Unfortunately, I had to stop seeing her around 34 weeks, which I believe ultimately contributed to my preeclampsia. At 38 weeks (full term), I managed to deliver two beautiful girls, both weighing a healthy 6.5 pounds each!
Edie is truly amazing! I genuinely mean that! She cares deeply about her patients, and I honestly believe that if it weren't for her help, knowledge, and genuine care, my girls wouldn't be here today. And while this may sound cliché, after seeing her for so long, I miss her because she became a friend to me.
If there's only one thing you take away from this review, when you visit Edie, please fully trust her and the process. She knows what she's doing! My advice to you: Take the herbs and supplements, follow the diet, wear the patches, listen to her advice, and visit her as often as possible. It's actually quite incredible to see the difference she can make to your body and overall health. I still can't believe I have 2 amazing, happy, and healthy girls because of her. I will forever be grateful for everything she has done for me!

I heard about Edie through a friend and put myself on the wait list. Months went by and my mom randomly mentioned that she heard about a friend's daughter having... read more a successful pregnancy with Edie. I said I was already on the waitlist, but hadn't gotten in yet. The next day, I got a call from Edie's office that there was an opening. I couldn't believe the timing! After my first meeting with Edie I was excited to try a new approach. I had dealt with infertility for over 5 years. I could get pregnant, but struggled with recurrent miscarriages. I had done countless IUI's and a round of IVF. I saw three different fertility doctors here in Hawaii, but no one could figure out why I couldn't hold a pregnancy. I was told I had mild endometriosis, but nothing that should affect pregnancy. They kept saying it was just bad luck, my age and low egg count/quality. Talking with Edie gave me hope that she could help me make some changes. I started her diet, herbs and acupunture twice a week. I wasn't doing the diet and herbs as well as I should have, but I ended up getting pregnant soon after. I thought this was it, I was finally going to have a healthy pregnancy. Unfortunately, I miscarried again and I was completely devastated. I continued to see Edie every week, but I wasn't committed. I was too afraid to go through another loss. She kept after me and always encouraged me, but I was just going through the motions. She kept telling me to see Dr. Dominguez, but I wasn't ready to start over with another fertility doctor. I was exhausted. I continued to try to conceive naturally, did acupuncture and some of the herbs, but I wasn't following the diet and I wasn't getting pregnant.
I finally decided to call Dr. Dominguez and made an appointment. Dr. Dominguez is just as amazing as Edie, I really wish I had gone to her sooner! She is always honest with you, but is also very compassionate. She made me feel strong enough to try again. Even though I had a low egg count she wanted me to do another IUI. She also suggested I have surgery so she could double check that everything looked okay before the IUI. It was kind of my last shot before looking at other options like egg donation. I talked to Edie about everything and I finally decided to give it my all. I committed to the diet, all of the herbs and continued the twice a week acupunture. I'll warn you, It is not for the faint of heart. The diet and herbs are extremely tough especially in the beginning, but it does get better once it becomes a routine. Edie also adjusted my acupuncture and herbs to help prep my body for the IUI.
After the IUI I found out I was pregnant. I was so shocked, but really scared. It had never worked before so I was filled with anxiety. Seeing Edie twice a week really helped. She would talk me through my fears and keep me calm with her acupuncture. She always encouraged me to stick with the diet and herbs and told me how important it was to keep my body nourished and healthy. Every doctor's appointment was hard because I was extremely nervous, but thankfully I kept passing every milestone. I had never made it past two months and now I was getting through each trimester. The first trimester wasn't easy with the diet and herbs because of nausea, but Edie really helped to get my nausea down by adjusting my treatment. Once I made it to the second trimester I started to feel better and my pregnancy was very comfortable. Even my OB was surprised at how healthy my pregnancy was considering my history and age, 44. I never got swollen, had no complications and made it to full term. It was all because of Edie and her regimen!
It is one of the hardest things I've done, It takes a lot of work and can get costly, but Edie will always work with you to figure out the best plan. Edie is tough and will push you, but she is incredibly kind and will help you when you are struggling. She painted me a beautiful bookmark with the word trust on it to help remind me to stay calm. I would take it to every doctor's appointment and ultrasound. I even brought it with me to the hospital when my daughter was born this past November. She truly cares and gives you hope when you feel like you can't keep going anymore. There is a reason her waitlist is so long, she is the best!! And her staff is amazing. They are all very kind and helpful and kept me in good spirits for all of my doctor's appointments. I remember looking at Edie's yelp page and hoping I'd be on the other side one day. If you are reading this and considering calling, please don't hesitate! Edie will completely change your pregnancy journey for the better both physically and mentally. She helped me have my miracle baby and made my dream of being a mom come true. I am forever grateful to Edie!

Edie is literally an angel and I have her to thank for helping me conceive my 2nd child who is now 3 months old! After 5 years of dealing with... read more the roller coaster of fertility issues that I encountered after having my first child, I was burnt out and depleted physically and emotionally. I tried the ivf route, but found that it was not a good fit for me after one cycle and a failed embryo transplant. Moreover, I found that the ivf process was cold and dehumanized, and did not address the individualized reasons why I was experiencing infertility.
I was on Edie's waitlist for one year. I had recently had a second miscarriage and it was like someone upstairs was looking out for me when I received that call. After my initial consultation and acupuncture session with Edie, I knew right away that she was the person I wanted to work with. She is compassionate, a good listener, and individualizes her treatment plans. After my first acupuncture session with Edie, I was able to pass my miscarriage tissue naturally without any surgical intervention.
She's an excellent acupuncturist. I'm normally quite sensitive to needles, but Edie does a great job and I tolerate her needles fine. I always feel relaxed and rejuvenated after her acupuncture sessions.
Her medication regimen requires discipline and it may not seem like it's doing anything at first, but over time you will notice an improvement in your overall health. Like all Chinese medications, the taste requires some getting used to, but be assured that she uses quality ingredients only.
I appreciate her so much! She is always available for any questions I have and helped guide me to become a stronger and healthier person to get pregnant and carry my pregnancy to term. I also learned a lot about my body and the importance of nutrition and rest to ensure healthy ovaries and good egg quality.
I surprisingly got pregnant after 3 months of treatment. At 12 weeks, they discovered that I had a large subchorionic hematoma and Edie helped guide me through all of this, further tailoring my therapy to achieve a healthy baby. I was nervous to say the least that I would lose the pregnancy, so it is a miracle that the hematoma resolved by 22 weeks and I carried my baby to term.
I am grateful that Edie also introduced me to Dr Celia Dominguez, who is just as awesome as she is. Had I known earlier about Dr D, I would have started with her first rather than going to some other ivf doctors around town.
Edie is incredibly knowledgeable, but most importantly she is passionate about what she does and it shows in every encounter I have had with her.
Super grateful for her and her work and lastly want to give a shout out to her office staff who are always so courteous and helpful. I live on a neighbor island and commuted every week to get treatment and they were so accommodating. Once I had a flight delayed for almost 2 hours and Edie and her staff stayed late to accommodate me because they knew I was flying over to see them. What an all star team!

Edie has been heaven sent, literally! I had already completed many IUI and a full round of IVF before seeing Edie. She came highly regarded by many other moms who... read more struggled to get pregnant. Called the office and spoke to the loveliest front desk staff who explained there was a wait list and that I could be added but could be called anytime. I asked to be added and waited about 3 mo. They called on a random day stating they had a random opening but it was that day. I jumped on it and never looked back! First meeting with Edie is lengthy, she goes over everything...what you eat, how much you sleep, medications you're on, the reason for coming in to see her etc. she then explains her entire program which varies from person to person but basically it's a full commit! From the multiple visits a week, to the herbs, and the diet...I'd say it's a go big or go home! If you're gonna see Edie, be prepared...she will hold you accountable! After seeing Edie religiously for 8 mo consistently, eating the diet, taking all the herbs....I finally got pregnant NATURALLY! I continued to see Edie as she helped me through my pre natal journey up until the day before I gave birth!
Edie is a godsend! She's a tiny little whipper snapper (lol)! Her office staff are all amazing as well! Don't look further, get on her waitlist!!!

Dr. Edie Uchida is just one of a kind doctor. She is very caring, she listens and just has a gift of knowing what the patient needs. I started my... read more journey right as I turned 34. Went to an IVF clinic and they did multiple tests and all came back normal. I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I called the office and got on the waitlist, took almost 5-6 months. I went to Dr. Uchida when my IVF failed to implant in April of 2024. For IVF, saw 7 follicles. They had retrieved only 2 eggs. One grew to day 5, normal embryo 4BB. I had done multiple IUI ( maybe like 8-9) with no success. I took Dr Uchida advice. She told me that people usually go to her as a last resort. I wish I knew about her sooner. We started about 1-2 treatments every week and she also gave me some herbs that I took( hi sha, yung Thai dung) She said my chi was off and that my body was depleted of nutrients due to all the meds I was on. She said Annie get off all your meds, your body can get pregnant naturally. Every few weeks she would adjust my herbs based on what I was feeling. For example, one month I was getting really hot and hot is not a good sign bc could mean I was going into menopause. She gave me herbs to help me adjust. Then in October of 2024, miracles happened, I had my first positive pregnancy test at 36 years old. I am now 15 weeks and it was all natural!!! I'm so happy I have my rainbow baby now growing inside of me. I continue to go to Dr Uchida weekly. Treatments can get pricey but She is worth going to!

When I started seeing Edie, I was 42 years old diagnosed with PCOS and experiencing secondary infertility. My fertility journey included 3 different IVF doctors with unsuccessful outcomes, 3 previous... read more acupuncturists, a fertility coach and a manifest coach. With a history of miscarriages, failed egg retrievals and transfers, I was eager to work with Edie. I followed her recommended diet including the Chinese herbs prescribed. Her approach with Chinese herbs to nourish the body and balance hormones, prepares the body for the best chance of a successful egg retrieval and transfer.
Working with Edie has surpassed any other experience I've had with previous acupuncturists. I've never worked with an acupuncturist with so much knowledge about fertility, Chinese herbs and attention to detail in her treatments.
Edie works closely with Dr. Celia Dominguez and with her recommendation I decided to change IVF doctor for the fourth time. After a 3.5 year fertility journey, I gave birth to a healthy baby at 45 years old. I attribute working with Edie as a huge part of my success.
